Safe and Sound
The safety, welfare and well being are of the utmost importance to all of us here at Fourways.
In light of recent national media focus on children’s safety at other nurseries, we have reviewed our own policies and have taken further strenuous steps to ensure all children continue to be safe during their time with us. These steps include:
• Banning all mobile phones at our nursery. (Both staff and parents)
• We have always been stringent about our CRB reference checking and therefore do not allow staff to interact with children and be left alone unsupervised until their CRB has cleared.
• If you need anyone other than the named adult to collect your child, you must inform the Nursery Manager or Deputy in advance. The staff should be able to meet this person or see a photo beforehand to confirm their identity. All collections will require a previously agreed password.
• All external doors are secure with coded locks at the nursery entrance to allow the nursery team to monitor entry into the nursery.
Above all else the safety of our children and staff are of paramount importance to us.

5* Food Hygiene
We recently had a routine food hygiene inspection and were awarded 5 stars.
We know how important the variety and quality of the food we offer your children is to you. We are constantly looking at new ranges and more ethnic based recipes.
In our effort to provide the highest quality food we took part in a national food survey in the latter part of 2009. The survey indicated that ‘Fourways is trying to provide a healthy, nourishing menu that meets the needs of the children’ but it maybe a little too ‘healthy’ i.e. too low in fat.
It has been advised that we offer more starchy carbohydrate at meals and snacks and more fat-containing puddings or even just increase some portion sizes, along with a few similar suggestions. We are currently working with the WRVS kitchen staff to address these issues.
